Grief is an emotional response to a loss. One may experience grief after a death, divorce, loss of a job, friendship, safety after a trauma, financial stability, and so on. Grief may also occur when outcomes do not meet our expectations, i.e. when starting a new job or entering into a new relationship.

Losing someone or something you love can be very painful and overwhelming. Sadness, mixed with a multitude of other emotions such as shock, anger, and guilt, are normal and necessary reactions. Physical symptoms are also often present. It is important to know that everyone grieves differently and on different timelines, and judging yourself for that experience will only keep you feeling stuck.

Therapy can provide an avenue of support during this time to assist in the grieving and healing process.
